If you aren't already on the slopes, many over the coming days will be heading for the Alps for that end of season Easter ski holiday. And what a week or long weekend you are in for. The Alps this Easter will be awash with fresh snow after a snowy week with big falls at all levels and the likes of Chamonix reporting the biggest snow depths with over 400cm on the Grands Montets and 170cm at 2000m!
So if you are heading for the Alps for the Easter ski weekend or to ski the Easter holidays next week, you are in for one hell of a treat!

Ski Christmas

Ski Half Term
Already a number of luxury catered chalets have been secured for the ski half term holiday week. Being so popular with family ski groups, for obvious reasons, this in part reflects the fact that families who have found a great family friendly ski chalet, many having experienced the less than friendly, don't want to let go of such a great half term ski accommodation.
When skiing half term, it is important to choose carefully and I guess if you look carefully at the website, and talk to the owners or operators, the information, their knowledge and the assistance given should reflect how ski family friendly they really are.
But if you are looking for a luxury catered chalet for the half term ski break, we would advise that these seem to nowadays go first so the earlier you are to secure your ski holiday, the more choice you get, as well as having access to cheaper flight tickets!

Luxury Chalets
The luxury chalets label seems nowadays to apply to nearly every chalet if you read most operators websites, even if it is clear from the pictures, its far from luxury!
So I guess in terms of picking a luxury chalet, after checking whether the chalet can accommodate your party, the price is within your budget, and its of course available when you need it, the Gallery Page probably should be the first port of call. Whilst a camera can nowadays lie with modern 'touch up' and even wholesale changes, it nevertheless gives a good insight into the 'luxury' and what the standard of the facilities are probably going to be like, if not the close up detail. Be careful here however, and when you look at the details and luxury features, just think about what they aren't showing! So check carefully that they aren't being choosey with the photos and if necessary ask them for the full repertoire.
The next check should probably be the Guestbook and people's comments. First question is to just think whether the comments appear genuine, and not written by the operator, you can get a feel if you look close, and then are they really waxing lyrical or just one 'polite' line. Also are the comments regular or once in blue moon where they got it right on the 6th week!
The last two factors when choosing a luxury catered chalet is to check the services and whether the delivery will truly be luxury, or pretty sparse at best. For example, is the chef some 18 year old untrained girl or boy, or a professionally trained chef, does the menu look high quality, are they providing transport, champagne, etc, etc. And when you finally have checked these to your satisfaction, contact the operator, test their knowledge, how they come across, are they friendly but professional, because if they aren't, then is it really going to be luxury!
